What this product does
True Byline tries to figure out if an image is real or not. We do not keep the photo. A check is a read, not a verdict.
Information we collect
- Waitlist and accounts: email address, and a password hash if you create an account.
- Checks: a hash of the file, scores, optional page URL, IP address (for daily limits), and whether you were signed in. We do not store the picture.
- Technical: server logs such as IP address, browser, requested page, and time, for security and reliability.
- Email: confirmation mail when you join the waitlist or use the product.
How we use it
- To run the product, including daily limits (3 signed out, 10 with a free account, 30 with a paid plan, reset the next UTC day).
- To send transactional email, such as waitlist confirmation.
- To keep the service secure and to understand aggregate use.
We do not sell your personal data.
Legal bases
Where UK GDPR applies we rely on contract (your account and the service you ask for), legitimate interests (security, limits, improving the product), and consent where you sign up to be notified.
Service providers
We use third parties to help run True Byline. They only get what they need for that job, under contract. Categories include:
- email delivery for waitlist and account messages
- payment processing if you buy a paid plan
- hosting, DNS, CDN, and security
- image analysis to return a check result (the photo is not kept by us after the request)
If you need the current providers for a category, email us or use Get in touch.
How long we keep it
Account and waitlist emails until you ask us to delete them or the list is no longer needed. Check metadata (hash, scores, URL, IP) to operate limits and the product. Logs for a short operational period.
Your rights
You may ask for access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your data, or object to processing, by emailing us. You can also complain to the ICO in the UK.
Cookies
We use a session cookie so you can stay signed in on the website. We do not run advertising cookies.
